Ongoing Work on Stall Street
As you may be aware essential work is ongoing underneath a section of Stall Steet in front of the Roman Baths. This area has been closed as a precautionary measure to vehicles and pedestrians. Officers in our project delivery team are liaising with Historic England for Scheduled Monument Consent in order to undertake maintenance work and we currently have no timescale on this.
The Christmas Market has taken additional precautions to ensure the safety of our visitors, staff and traders during the busy time. This includes but is not limited to:
- - Increased safety and security measures on site including additional event marshals
- - Removal of outdoor seating at the Stall Street bar area to ease crowd flow
- - The ability to implement temporary one-way systems if required due to crowd flow at specific times
To find out more information, please see our press release.
Vehicular Access and Road Closures
To facilitate our chalet construction, and the event itself, road closures will be enforced, however, we will try our hardest to cause as little disruption as possible. We intend to prioritise the removal of temporary infrastructure as soon as the event ends to ensure that the roads can be reopened as soon as possible. We will also provide details of vehicle access during the event, for the likes of deliveries.
To view all the road closures and suspensions that'll be in place for the Bath Christmas Market, please see them listed here as of the 6th November.
In the meantime, if you have any questions around this, please don’t hesitate to get in touch.
Frequently Asked Questions
Will it be noisy at the event?
Due to the nature of the event, we do not usually experience any complaints from noise. Any festive entertainment scheduled during the Christmas Market will be suitable for a family audience and volume controlled. Our scheduled entertainment will not be performed outside of the opening and closing times of the event.
Event construction will take place between 8am and 6pm, Monday to Sunday, and if we need to operate outside of these hours we will be in contact with the premises within those areas.
Will there be security overnight?
Yes. We have a specialist security and marshalling team, GES, in place overnight (24/7) and throughout the hours of the event. They will be in constant liaison with emergency services, and Council CCTV team, who will also be monitoring the city centre.
How will emergency and essential services get through?
Emergency Services will always be granted access as required. We will have dedicated security staff in place who will be able to give immediate assistance. We also have an onsite medical team who will be able to assist in medical incidents on our footprint, during the hours of the event.
