Soak up the festive atmosphere and enjoy the wide variety of entertainment we have to offer at Bath Christmas Market 2016. We have a jam-packed programme of entertainment over the 18 days, with talented local musicians, brass bands, a cappella, gospel choirs and street theatre, whose mission it will be to entertain you and add to the festive atmosphere as you wander about the market.
Bath Abbey provides a stunning backdrop to the market and hosts a full programme of Christmas services, including their special one-of-a-kind ‘shoppers’ services. The sound of carols echoing around the Abbey and drifting through the Christmas Market really creates an enchanting, celebratory spirit.
Guaranteed to make you laugh, the Natural Theatre Company will be appearing Thursday 24th November, Tuesday 29th November, Sunday 4th December and Friday 9th December, so keep an eye out for them merrily making their way through the Market in all their festive glory; they will no doubt be ready to stop and pose for a silly selfie with you! Also, look out for the enchantingly-illuminated stilt walking Ice Prince and Princess on Thursday 1st and Thursday 8th December.
Also joining us for a special performance will be Bristol-based gospel choir, Renewal, by arrangment of Bath Festivals. You can enjoy them and their inspirational festive chorus in Abbey Churchyard on Saturday 26th November at 11:00.
We will also be welcoming a selection of University Choirs, performing arts students from local colleges, and students from Norland College all joining us to sing Christmas carols. Students studying at Bath Dance College and E3 Theatre Company will also be performing, hoping for donations from festive shoppers to help fund their upcoming shows and productions, so be sure to seek them out, soak up the joy and really get into the festive spirit.
As we know, children love Christmas and the jolly Christmas classics they get to sing, so we are delighted to be able to welcome a number of local Primary Schools, who will be singing in front of the West doors of Bath Abbey on various dates.
