Travelling by Car

Bath is located just 10 miles from junction 18 of the M4 motorway which runs direct from London and Heathrow Airport. There are also excellent motorway links from the North and Devon and Cornwall via the M5 motorway, whilst Wales is just a short drive west on the M4 motorway.

Park & Ride services in Bath

Bath is well served by three Park & Ride services that run every day of the week.

Using any of the Park & Ride services takes just 10 minutes to get to the centre of Bath and costs £3.20 return Monday to Friday and £2.50 at weekends, with free parking.

Travelling by Train

Bath Spa train station is located in the centre of Bath. It is a short walk from the city’s shops and attractions.

There are regular train services direct from London Paddington and London Waterloo to Bath Spa, with an average journey time of around 90 minutes.

Bristol Temple Meads is just 15 minutes away by train. It is a major hub for travel to all other parts of the country. A number of services to Bath Spa will change at Bristol Temple Meads including services from northern England, Scotland, Devon and Cornwall.

You can get direct trains to Bath Spa from a number of destinations in the UK including Cardiff. Regular train services run from Cardiff Central train station to Bath Spa, with an average journey time of around 65 minutes.

If you travel to Bath by train you can take advantage of First Great Western's 2 for 1 offers at top Bath attractions and restaurants.

Train services can be busy during the Christmas Market, so First Great Western are running additional services to make sure your journey is comfortable.

Travelling by Bus

Several bus operators provide services in and around Bath. First Group is the largest and they operate from the bus station in Dorchester Street adjacent to Bath Spa train station.

Travelling around Bath by bus is easy with a number of routes from the centre to the city’s outer areas. You can also enjoy a number of great days out from Bath by bus to explore the surrounding area.

'BathRider' bus tickets allow a day or a week's unlimited travel on every bus in Bath (apart from the Park& Ride services and private tours). Tickets are available from the Bath Visitor Information Centre.

Money saving deals on other First bus services such as the FirstDay ticket, offers unlimited travel in and around Bath for only £4.10 off-peak (after 9am Mon-Fri and Saturday, Sunday and Bank Holidays).

Travelling by Coach

National Express provides good value coach travel linking all major towns and cities in Europe. Frequent services run from London Victoria coach station, London Heathrow Airport and London Gatwick Airport to Bath bus station.

Coach Drop Off Points

Bath and North East Somerset Council have introduced a booking system for coach parties so we can carefully manage arrival and departure times, parking bays and congestion. We therefore ask all coaches wishing to park in Bath during this period to book well in advance to ensure a space.

Coach Parking

There is allocated coach and lorry parking at the Riverside Coach and Lorry Park located on Avon Street, BA1 1UE. Riverside is a long stay coach and lorry park with approximately 41 spaces. Parking charges apply from 08.00 to 18.00 and there are coins, notes and credit/debit card facilities for payment on site.
